about the empty wineglass
Why This Place Exists
a letter from Jess
I Didn't Build This Place Because Leaders Needed Another Retreat.
I was raised on a ranch. Then I built and sold a company.
I've sat in the boardrooms. I've sat in the leadership meetings.
I've worked with founders, CEOs, and executive teams for decades.
Here's what I learned…
Most organizations don't struggle because they're not smart enough.
They struggle because they can't see clearly.
Too much noise. Too many meetings. Too many distractions. Not enough room to think.
The Empty Wineglass was built to create that room — a place where leaders step away long enough to see clearly, decide with conviction, and move.
This place wasn't built to impress anyone.
It was built to help people do the work.
It carries my brand — the real one, on real land.
What yours stands for is up to you. That's what we're here for.

the brand
A cattle brand marks ownership.
A leadership brand marks responsibility.
Every company carries one — whether they chose it or not. It isn't the logo. It's the mark people are left with after they deal with you. Clarity or confusion. Trust or fear. Accountability or excuses.
The brands that last aren't burned into a hide. They're burned into a culture — a standard, protected long enough that it outlives the people who set it.
That's the work here.
Not your logo. Your mark.
the empty wineglass
Why The Empty Glass?
Our brand — the iron, the mark of this ranch — is the shape of an empty wineglass. The ranch is named after it.
Then there's what it came to mean.
A full glass is the easy story. Success. Titles. Money. Proof you've arrived.
An empty glass is the harder one. Humility — knowing that no matter how far you've come, it's never actually full.
The moment a leader thinks it is, they stop growing.
The best ones show up empty on purpose.
Ready to learn. Ready to be wrong. Ready to get better.
Come empty. Leave full.
Two questions get answered here.
What mark are we leaving? And are we humble enough to keep improving it?
Legacy isn't built by people who think they've arrived. It's built by people curious enough to keep growing.
